SCARED SON

My mother had a ct scan that shows multiple 1mm noudules on both lungs, the doctor said to do another ct scan in 3 months. She asked a question, if the nodules become cancerous what do we do ? The doctor answered we cant do anything, there are to many. My question to you is are there any other treatments out there before it becomes canccerous?
