Salty Taste/Smell Sinus Related

back in February 2007 i posted on here about my sinus problems, basically i had a foul odour coming from my nose aswell as all the other sinus symptoms, facial fullness, feeling tired, headaches, feeling as if my nasal passages were blocked although i never had a build up of mocus.  A poster told me how to make and use a sailne solution.  It worked great, but it never really cured me all my symptoms but it did provided a great relief from most of them.

As i had been using the solution 2 years i felt it was time to stop using it and see what my nose, symptoms etc would be like without it, but for the last month or so since i stopped, i have a very strong smell and taste of salt.  This will no doubt be due to using the solution for so long.  As result i cant tell how my sinsuses are as the salt is overpowering.

Does anyone have any advice on this, like how long this smell and taste will last and is there anything i could do to wash it away.

i'd appreciate any help or advice on this matter

Yeah, the body should absorb any salt.  Maybe if you boil some distilled water (let it cool, of course) and do a sinus flush with pure water, it might wash dissolve some of it out.  Just an idea.  Good luck.

Ah, nevermind, I guess I did snort inwards on the third step, that would not be the source of your problem.  The problems you are having seem to be in the upper sinuses, which is difficult to reach, or drain out, which is why you may need a scan.

I did the same thing, except inhaling it as the third step.  The point is to get all of the saline out, with whatever you are trying to wash out. Plus, a saline flush should have cured the problem within a few weeks.  You could have some blockage in your ostia (drainage holes) leading to some saline retention, or some other obstruction.  You may want to go to an ENT and get that checked out.

also i've never had a problem with mucus build up, i would do the nasal clean and there would never be any mucus coming out, its just the foul odor & other sinusitis like symptoms i was trying to clear up

the way its been advised on here before, in the shower squirt it up each nostril bend over for a 10 seconds then blew it out,(twice) followed by the same process but inhale it instead of blowing it out

How did you administer the saline?
