Sensitivity to inhaling small particles/causes severe wheezing

by JodRoebuck, Sep 25, 2008 07:43PM
My 5 year old daughter has now had 3 pretty intense bouts with wheezing/labored breathing/coughing after inhaling particulates such as sand, dirt/mulch and most recently glitter.

Several hours after she's played with these... on 3 separate occassions, she starts wheezing.  The wheezing gets progressively worse, and her little chest raises and lowers drastically while trying to breath.  I've taken her to urgent care once for it.. and they gave her liquid albuterol and suggested Delsym OTC.

The doctors that have seen her for this don't say anything about athsma.. but it looks like it to me when she's going through it.

A friend said her child had the same thing, but I can't remember the name of the condition.

She's allergic to peanuts.. but that's the only allergy she has.   She also had infant eczema, which she grew out of.  So she appears to have some sensitivities.

Any thoughts?
