Has anyone experienced the sensation that they are hardly breathing upon waking in the morning. It is like I am just waking up, laying there and I feel like I am breathing really shallow. Then when I wake up I am quite nervous and feels like I cannot take a deep breath???
If you are somehow deprived of oxygen in your sleep, your body reacts oddly when you become more aware and awake. It is essentially a morning hangover irregardless if alcohol or certain medications are being used. And, not everyone gets a headache...
My sister once did a sleep test having the same problem. Come to find out she was literally suffocating herself with the pillow when reaching the peak of deep sleep, never achieving what is referred to REM (rapid eye movement) or the dream state. It took a few pillow adjustments and later she got used to sleeping without one.
