Shortness of Breath, coughing, and yawning

It's been probably 3 years since I have had this.  I have gone for chest X-rays twice, talked to my doctor about it about 5 times and nothing.

Everyday I have shortness of breath.  When I wake up in the morning I feel great, but once I start about my day it gets worse as the day progresses.  I am 32 year old female, smoke about half a pack a day, am normal wieght and have had every test with blood work it seems,  And everything is normal.  I find it's the worse when I am sitting.  I also cough and am constantly yawning.  One wierd symptom is on my left side right about breast level I am very sensitive there.  To push on it feels like it is bruised.  So much that a bra bothers me to wear all day.  The worst symptom is the shortness of breath.  I feel like I can never get enough air and even when I take a big breath (as much as I can take in) I still cannot get enough.

My docotr prescribed me asthma medication which didn't work.

But it doesn't ever wake me up, I never wake feeling short of breath.  I wake feeling great.  It just gets worse and worse as the day goes on.  My doctor actually told me it's in my head.  Which I told him no way.  And that's where it ends.

Same EXACT THING!!! the last three days is has gotten bad! i made a doctors appt for today AGAIN! yesterday i was driving and i was getting that feeling through my whole body like it wasn't getting enough oxygen and I kept trying to get that one WONDERFUL deep breath in! I have had x rays, heart tests, and doctors say that it is in my head and it's just anxioty. So i take advir doesn't help---ativan....DOesn't help either! so today imma try to get tested or set an appt. up for asthma tests. I am so sick of this and it's VERY annoying i feel like imma pass out if i don't get that deep breath! yesterday i was even  contiplating to take myself in to the hospital it was soo bad!

I have the same thing, I have also searched the web and all kinds of forums for answers, but no one seems to know anything, all the Docs say its anxiety, all the tests come back normal, but as you all know this is not normal and maybe if we all get together we can figure out what is causing it.

I am 24 years old and have had this same exact problem for going on almost a year now...feeling like you can't get enough air, yawning all the time, it is worse when i sit down, but I do not have a cough
I have gone and are still going to the doctors to try to get this figured out. I have had a chest x-ray come back and say it was negative, I've had the blood work come back perfect.  I've had spirometry done and have great lungs.  My oxygen saturation is 99-100%!
so my doctor prescribed me Ativan for anxiety.  I am 24 years old, I don't have anxiety.  I take the Ativan and it does nothing for me.
I am wondering if it might have somethign to do with stomache-intestinal-something other than respiratory because we all have great lungs!
If anyone can help that would be great.

I feel the exact same way as many of you others feel is there any one out there that has got any response as to what it is.  I wake up in the morning feeling fine and then as the morning progresses I start feeling the urge to yawn alot or take a deep breath.  It just scares me because I know I am not crazy I know that this is what i am feeling and it would be nice if the doctor would have some type of anwser as to why this is happening I just worry it could be something serious. Any one else have any input on this situation you could even email me if you know. ***@****

Yes i have had much of the same problem. I do not smoke, i have had asthma for 10 years, im 21 now and just graduated college, it started my last quarter of schooling 3 months before graduation. and it has lasted until now and still going strong. ive seen 6 doctors and they all say its in my head. But then again they havent listened to a word i said, they just stare at there notes and dont even look me in the eye. i have had x-rays come out fine, weirdest thing is im constantly yawning to get a deep breath otherwise i cant, exercise makes it worst in fact if i do any light exercise at all im on the brink of passing out. Im fine in the morning, gets progrssivaly worse as day goes on, doesnt wake me up feel great in the morning. Weird thing is recently i have been experiancing weazing just like asthma symptoms although the asthma medication does not make it go away like it has been the last ten years of my life. Im on 100/50 Advair twice per day, Singulair, and albuterol 2 puffs every 4-6 hours as needed. And i take it just about 6 times per day. please help us everyone think we are just nuts.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
There are several reasons for having difficulty breathing that include the heart and lungs, as well as anxiety, as suggested by your physician.  I would suggest, since this is obviously of concern to you, that you see a Pulmonologist and describe your symptoms.  It is likely that you will have some lung function tests and perhaps some x-rays.  This is the best way to at least address the problem to try to see what is causing it.  If you have that information, you can treat appropriately.
