I've noticed lately that I have been "sighing" or taking deep breathsBreath alcohol test Breath holding spell Breath odor a lot. It only seems to happen when I am at rest. When I am active, I don't seem to do it. I don't have any other symptoms related to breathing troubles. I'm not short of breathBreath alcohol test Breath holding spell Breath odor, weak, dizzy, nor do I have any chest pains. When I'm active (ie. doing yard work) I don't have any of these symptoms either.
A few weeks ago my son got very sick (stomach bug) and was "sighing" all the time. Even after he got better he continued sighing. I was really concerned and called the doctor. The told me (based on a couple other things too) that these sighs were "compensatory sighs" and can happen when your body is dehydrated. They had me come in with him and they checked his urine. His ketone level was really, really high. He was severly dehydrated! I took him to the hospital for IV rehydration and the sighing stopped within 48 hours.
Just a thought.
