Simple Chronic Bronchotis
Hi,

How long does it take for Simple Chronic Bronchitis to clear up. I gave up smoking 18 months ago and I'm still coughing with phlegm daily. My FVC / FEV1 was 78 so my pulmo says no COPD.

I have had a normal HR CT too.

Rgds,

E.

This depends on how much and how long you smoked before giving it up.  In some instances, the inflammation of chronic bronchitis never goes away, even though your FVC/FEV1 may be normal.  Also make sure that the cough and phlegm truly are coming from your lungs.  Coughing with phlegm daily could be from some health problem other than chronic bronchitis, such as postnasal drip.
