Sinusitis

by Amy2, Mar 18, 2009 01:50PM
About 15 years ago, I had surgery to correct a deviated septum after going through two years of constant sinus infections and bronchitis.  The surgery helped a lot.  The past few years, I have experienced the return of frequent sinus infections and bronchitis.  I am experiencing a nasty sinus infection right now and had a CAT SCAN of my sinuses an hour ago.  When I looked at the films, even with my limited expertise reading films, it was obvious that the nasal passage on my right side is almost completely blocked and there is a significant difference in my right and left sinus cavity.  The left one was fairly clear while the right one had a lot of mucous in it.  Is it possible for the septum surgery to only last about ten years?

Yes it is possible for a person to have to have that surgery again.. I am 26 years old and had that surgery in 2004.. The first year and a half i didn't have a sinus infection at all and now i get them again.. The doctor had told me when i had the surgery (which i hated! and it hurt!!!) that i may need to come back later in life (anywhere from 10-15 years later) and have it done again.. of course i will choose not too because of how miserable i was!! but then again i was only 21 so who knows... good luck!! :)
