Sleep problem after collapsed lung

After my pneumothorax and the pleurodesis surgery 3 years ago, I have not had a night of restful sleep.  In the beginning of the recovery period, I would wake up in the middle of the night, gasping for air.  Never had any problem falling asleep, but staying asleep has been the challenge.  After waking up, I would feel like my heart has worked overtime and always beats fast.  I never experienced anything like this before the lung surgery.  About 6 months ago, I did a sleep apnea test and was diagnosed with severe sleep hypopnea (AHI - 33).  I'm been on the CPAP machine with pressure of 7 mmHg.  The sleep test indicates that with the CPAP, my AHI is 3 and falls within the normal range.  However, although my heart feels less burdened, I still wake up in the middle of the night and do not feel like I've had a good night of sleep.  Could the surgery or the scarred issues around the chest area resulted from the surgery have changed or affected my breathing mechanism?  Should I see a respiratory specialist or perform a lung function test?  BTW, ENT doctor said that my turbinate is enlarged and could be causing blockage to airway.  Could it be the cause?  I've read horror stories about empty nose syndrome and would like to avoid turbinate surgery if possible.  Need help.
