Sleep study test results and another test with CPAP.

I had a sleep study test done and was told I had an apnea/hypopnea index of 6.6, which is just considered mild as they say the cutoff is 5.  My PCP has has now ordered another study with CPAP.  My question is would the fact that I sometimes have difficulty breathing through my nose have any impact on that AHI and maybe this study with CPAP would not be necessary?  I'm having these done because of anxiety that they say can be caused by sleep apnea and they want to be sure before prescring psy. med. and I've complained that no matter how much I sleep, never feel rested, and I work midnight shift so my sleep is fragmented anyhow.  Thank you.

Hey.  I am in the exact same situation.  I was just wondering how the CPAP was working for you and if it helped your Anxiety?

You must be a mouth breather if you have problems with breathing from your nose...I have noticed that alot of people are mouth breathers during sleep. Do you happen to snore as well? If you do, it could be from obstruction of the soft tissue in your throat which would cause the apneas. I would go through with the CPAP for a few reasons. One, at least I would know if it would be helpful in decreasing my apneas or not. Two...I would also know if my sleep apnea was to blame for my anxiety issues or not as well. If it is, then there would be one less med to take.
I hope that this helps...Sunny
