Sore throat

by janet21c, Apr 03, 2005 12:00AM
for 3 days i had a sore throat with white dots with fever so i went to see the doctor and he prescribed pencillin.  he didn't take a culture.  i developed a rash so he told me to quit it and then prescribed erythromycin.  by the next day my fever had gone, i felt that i really didn't have an infection, so i decided not to pick up the antibiotic. (no health insurance!) after a couple of days of feeling improvement, though i developed a tickly cough, now i have a much worse feeling sore throat, no white dots, very swollen glands, even swollen at the back of my tongue last night, but no fever, no headache.
i've relocated to Santa Fe and the dryness feels like a factor in this - what is going on?

It is very difficult to know what is happening right now.  This could have been an infection, which was only partially treated.  You may also have had an allergic reaction to the medication.  A simple culture might be a good idea. You should continue to work with your local doctor. Good luck.
