Throat problems

Hi,

I had a cold or the flu for two weeks that ended last week.  I get colds a few times a year and they last at least two weeks and are severe.  My dr Rxed me Zithro and my cold passed.  Now, for the last week, I have had a sever sore throat.  Is this some type of after effect?  No puss or anythng like that at the back, just really read and sore with swollen glands.

I have had a severe tickling in the throat and it can't be relieved.  It all started with a cold about 2 years ago.  Since then, on the spur of a moment, the throat starts to tickle severely and I can't make it stop.  Relief comes from Ricola Natural Herb Cough Drops, but it takes time.  I slam a few swallows of a Coke product and it clears it temporarily.  My doctor (ear, nose & throat) prescribed a syrup that does absolutely nothing but taste bad.  I am a singer and right in the middle or towards the end of a song it starts in.... every song.  I have some sinus drainage at times.  I need something to stop this forever. Can you help?
