Unable to travel, etc. due to asthma/allergies

Hello,

I've had severe allergies -- which trigger asthma attacks -- for several years now.  Medications, natural supplements, and allergy shots have only helped moderately and any good results have been sporadic, at best.

To control symptoms, I've resorted to avoidence of my triggers....  which means that I wear a thick electostatic mask when outside; I don't open my windows; I avoid purfumes, chemicals, etc.  Needless to say, this has made my life very "small" in what I'm able to do and where I'm able to go.

While I am able to do things locally with the aid of my mask, I find that traveling more than an hour or so away from home presents problems.  The mask is very thick (and stuffy!) therefore I'm only able to wear it comfortably for an hour or so.

I would like to find something (super-high filtration breathing apparatus which supplies air? or something??) that I could wear which would offer excellent allergen filtration, without limiting the time that I'm able to wear it.  If I could find such a device, my life would open up immensely!

Are there any such devices out there?  Or any companies that you know of which works on medical devices and could work with me to make something for me?

Thank you.

There are several lightweight respirators available to you. Many local hardware or construction supply stores carry "N95" or "N100" respirators. These respirators come in a variety of shapes and sizes but are much more efficient at removing dust and pollen particles than standard "dust masks". Many of these respirators have lightweight exhalation valves to help exhaust a person's warm breath and to keep the person cool. Some of these respirators incorporate a layer of activated charcoal to help eliminate nuisance odors such as perfume and paint odors.

Regardless of the respirator you buy, it is important that you follow the manufacturer's directions on how to don and wear the respirator in order for it to seal to your face properly and give you the necessary protection.

Hi

If you would email me at "***@****" I will stay reminded that I need to look up (in my business rolodex) the name of the company (owned by a woman andwith only her family as workers) who produces a lightweight, comfortable mask that should be helpful to you. She herself suffers from Multiple Chemical Sensitivities and designed the mask for her own protection.
Sorry I can't post the info here and now. It's at work, and if you don't remind me by email I'll forget who what and where the forum was to advise (It's 1:15AM here as I type this)
