Uneven soft palate

by problemmatic, Mar 25, 2007 12:00AM
I just noticed that at the back of my throat, one side of the soft palate seems to hang quite a bit lower than the other.  Opening wide, I can see a well defined opening on one side of the uvula, but can barely make the opening out on the other side as the palate seems to drop much lower.  Is there any reason for concern?  Thanks.

If you have no problem swallowing or talking, this is probably not a problem.  I would suggest having your physician give a more careful examination to be sure there is no reason for what you are describing, such as a swelling under the tongue or palate.
