VCD at Sleep-Onset

VCD at Sleep-Onset

Dear Friends,

at every moment of sleep-onset I am awakened by a laryngospsmus as was found in a sleep la after 15 years suffering.
Problems started when I chose from nose-down-selpp-position which I used my entire life to another position due to breathing difficulties. Supine position is worst and I have to sit in bed instead of lying and taking loads of meds and alcohol to cross the line into sleep. It seems to be a "Mechanical" problem.
3 weeks ago I received a Botox-Injection in the throat but since then all problems are much worse than before, everytime I try to speek I get no air supply.
Since 5 years all other VCD-acc.problems daytime happens to me more and more.
What can I do?
Sincerely,
Herrhausen

Taking meds and alcohol is not the answer.  You should consult with an ENT specialist and a Speech Therapist, who has expertise in the treatment of vocal cord disease.  Botox may still help as might speech therapy.  You also need to be evaluated for gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) which could trigger the VCD. If all else fails and you continue to experience obstruction of your upper airway, you may have to have a permanent tracheostomy.
