Vomiting after eating

My 24 year old son will vomit after eating. I am not sure if this is because he is just waking up and eating too much or if there is a problem. He is a smoker and has complained of breathing difficulties also. He has had xrays taken with no negative results. I know he is not forcing himself to vomit...I have witnessed the occurences...he eats stands up and vomits a few minutes later. My father has emphysema and my grandfather passed away from it also. Are these symptoms?

Vomiting is not a sign of emphysema.  Spirometry is a simple breathing test that measures how the lungs are working.  It will show if there is obstruction in your son

Has he seen a doctor that specializes in GI problems? He probably needs to see on ASAP. He probably needs a barium swallow exam minimally, and maybe a scoping to see what's going on in his stomach.
