Vomiting when excersizing

by wage, Nov 07, 2006 12:00AM
I'm pretty active, try to get out on my mountain bike 2-3 times a week.  Once in a while I get sick while riding.  I get really hot, dry heave or vomit, start sweating heavily then feel fine after i vomit.  I am curious as to what could cause this.  I'm 32 and can remember this back into my late teens.  It doesn't happen every time though.  My doctor had mentioned something about an adreniline rush and my symtons being similar to passing out.

This could simply be a case of getting overheated and/or dehydrated.  Having a friend check your pulse rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure and skin color when this happens could possibly shed light on the mechanism.

Pheochromocytoma is a tumor of the adrenal gland that is not cancer.  However it could also cause these symptoms.  This was the diagnosis of a friend of mine, who experienced symptoms similar to yours for 20 years.  You might ask your doctor to test you for it.
