I've had Asthma for many years. About 10 years ago I found a doctor who got it under control. I use Advar discue 50/500 and accolate 20mg. All of a sudden this week I got really sick and couldn't breath, tight cheast, bad cough. I went to the doctor and he said I had Asmatic Broncitis. I'd like more information on this. I tried looking it up on the internet with no luck. where did it come from? Is it contagoous? Any help would be appreciated.

Asthmatic bronchitis is a widely used term to suggest that an attack of asthma has been triggered by a respiratory infection. It usually is treated as any other attack of asthma with the addition of an antibiotic. There are many doctors who do not use this term. They simply refer to this as a flare of asthma triggered by an infection. The symptoms are no different from an attack of asthma and should be treated as such.
