What could be causing chest tightening?

My chest tightens when at rest ie. sitting or lying in bed and, as well, when I do any activity.  After heart surgery, it only tightened when I walked faster than a normal pace.  For over six weeks now the tightening occurs just while at rest and when I do activies ie. housework, walking, etc..  It is getting worse as even just bending down to adjust something or sitting here causes tightening.  Have had angiogram --all clear.  Could this mean a blockage in other part of body?

Does your tightness in your chest come on all of a sudden at rest and if you do activity?  My ribs and sternum do not really hurt though I do get a cramping, dull ache type of pain below my ribs and sternum. I notice if I sit down at the computer, chest tightening comes on and if I put my feet up on the coffee table, I get chest tightening and need to change position.  Even get chest tightening just lying in bed or on the sofa.  Activity makes the chest tightening worse.  Symptons getting worse in last couple of weeks.   I am going to be seeing a vascular surgeon who will be looking into whether I have a blockage somewhere other than my heart as my cardiologist has ruled out my heart as the cause.    Are you taking medication to help with the pain and discomfort?  Hope your pain and discomfort get better soon.

I have trouble with tightness in my chest. Do your ribs and sternum hurt? Since I had sarcoidosis in the lungs, I have gotten what my doctor refers  to as a severe case of costocondritis.  Think that's spelled correctly.  Anyway, I feel like something is squeezing my chest and it is painful just to touch the ribs and sternum.   Anyway, I can certainly appreciate your discomfort because I have been dealing with it a long time.
