Linear Scarring generally has got lot of differentials to be eliminated to specify what exactly caused such condition in you.Linear Scarring, can be seen Respiratory Diseases,on a chest X-Ray,such as,Atelectasis, Cystic Fibrosis, Tuberculosis, Aspergillosis, Lung cancer ,Bronchiectasis,Asbestosis, immune mediated infection with compromise, and also infection. If you have been suffering from any of the above mentioned diseases, its more likely that a linear scarring may be evident on a Chest Radio graph. It mostly occurs in conditions of the Lung Interstitium - a place that does not take part in Gaseous Exchange.PET scan may also reveal such changes. A careful History and Physical Examination by an experienced Physician could probably get you the exact answer for Linear scarring.
