What is prognosis for 65 with emphysema?

I was just told that I have emphysema. I am short of breath, sometimes worse then others. I did walk 4 miles a day. I am down to 2, sometimes the walk to the mail box in front of the house has me short of air and fight fatigue all of the time. I quit smoking 30 years ago, but was a heavy smoker.I live on the coast, but we have some polluted air and a lot of humidity.What is the prognosis?
