What test should I have and how often?

by Suzettay, Jul 04, 2009 07:56PM
10 years ago a spot was found on my chest x-ray.  A biopsy was performed and I was diagnosed with lung
nodules.  There were many more than showed on the cat-scan.   They all were benign thank GOD
and the Dr advised me to f/u every 6 mo's.  I have since changed insurances and have a different network of Doctors
I deal with.  I previously smoked and quit prior to my surgery however am concerned about lung cancer because my
Mother passed away @ age 54 from oat cell lung cancer and my Dad passed away from squamous cell lung cancer @ age 73.  I also lost a brother to cancer, he was 52.  The pulmonary Dr I see says that cat-scans have been shown
to increase the risk of lung cancer.  Are there any other tests I could request that could rule out cancer & if so
how often should I have it done.  I am 53 yrs old and this surgery was done 10 yrs ago.
