I have had a chronic, non-productive cough for about a year and in the last week developed a very deep cough which is also non-productive; it feels like cement in my chest and I feel tired all the time. My ribsRib cage pain hurt and I have a bit of a headache. Having enjoyed exceptionally good health up to this point, I am not a happy camper. My current doctor, with whom I am not thrilled and am in the process of replacing, has not been helpful. He had some tests done -- chest x-ray, which indicated some scarring from the bronchitisAcute bronchitis Bronchitis Bronchitis and normal condition in tertiary bronchus Cause of acute bronchitis Cause of chronic bronchitis Chronic bronchitis Croup Industrial bronchitis I have had in the past; a stress test, the results of which he did not share with me, and a pulmonary test, which was normalNormal saline flush. These tests were done before the deep cough began and I am wondering what could be causing it.
Do you smoke? I had a cough like you for about 3 months out of the year for the past 5 years - chest x-ray was fine - but my CT Scan which was done in May for other reasons showed moderate emphysema - have a CT Scan done to rule out emphysema.
