Worried about Augmentin

by pinballguy, Mar 20, 2002 12:00AM
My Doctor has yet to call me back, I am in HMO hell. Anyway I am taking Celexa and Adderral and Trazodone. I also have a Sinus infection and have been prescribed AUGMENTIN. My cousin was on Cylert for ADD and Augmentin for a bronchial infection and he developed a rare condition called "Steven's Johnson Syndrome" he was in a burn center for almost 2 months and almost died. He is now very sensative to light and has scars.

Question: Am I taking a risk or am I more at risk due to having a blood relative who had SJS? / if I take the augmentin? I'm kind of at a standstill here. I feel like someone going Skydiving for the 1st time about to be thrown out of the plane.

Thanks,
Rss

Stevens Johnson Syndrome is an inflammatory problem that causes fever, sores that look like targets, and blisters in the mouth, throat, and eyes.  Infections, medicines, and vaccines can cause Stevens Johnson Syndrome, but most of the time the specific cause cannot be found.  This syndrome does not run in families.
