Xray of the lungs ... what does it mean?

by justvinnie, Nov 21, 2007 12:56PM
Can you please explain these results ... is it good or bad? Here is what the xray report reads: "PORTABLE UPRIGHT CHEST. HISTORY: Aspiration COMPARISON EXAMINATION: (3 days earlier) FINDIINGS: A nasogastic tube is present. Heart measures slightly enlarged. An infiltrate is noted behind the heart on the left side. Discoid think strands are now present in the left base. A coarsening of lung markings is seen in the right lower lung zone. On the previous examination a coarsening of all lung markings is present. IMPRESSION: Nasogastric tube in place. Interval inprovement in aeration. Coarsening right lower lung zone. Infiltrate and thick discoid atelectasis left base." ----- end. My question ... Would these be considered pre-stages for pnuemonia (pneumonia)? Also, shortness of breath, low o2 level and tempature are also present. Thank you for HELPING. :)
