I have sarcoidosis my doctor says my ACE level is 174 which is very high. What is an ACE level  , what does this mean sense I feel fine,& where does an ACE level originate?

Angiotensin 1-converting enzyme (ACE) level is a measurement of the amount of angiotensin 1-converting enzyme in your blood or serum.  Serum angiotensin 1-converting enzyme (SACE) level is another way that you may see this noted.

The SACE level may or may not be high in people with sarcoidosis.  In a person with sarcoidosis with a high SACE level, this blood test can be used to check the activity of sarcoidosis.  When the sarcoidosis improves the SACE level decreases.  Unfortunately, other health problems can cause the SACE level to be high, so this blood test alone is not enough to say that a person has sarcoidosis.  Please read our Sarcoidosis MedFact at http://www.nationaljewish.org/medfacts/sarcoid.html for more information.
