Nerve conduction velocity, in or near the spine, where all the nerves of the chest emerge.
You should have another chest x-ray and may need a CT scan of your chest. You should have a careful, thorough exam of your throat by an ENT doctor. If the chest pain persists for 60 days or more or if it becomes more frequent or progressively more severe, you should see a pulmonologist. Carefully consider your usual, or not so usual, physical activities to determine if one or more of these might have led to strain of one or more structures in your chest wall.
