am I going to get lung cancer too?

by kiki0806, May 05, 2009 02:18PM
I am 49, former smoker, quit 14 years ago with a few slips here and there.  I am recovering from pneumonia, diagnosed 4/16/09.  I am still coughing and feel terrible, but I am still working.  My family history is that my mother was diagnosed with small oat cell carcinoma of the lung when she was 51 and died at age 52. She was a smoker.  My grandma, mom's mom, died of lung cancer at age 58.  She also was a smoker.  I was around smokers since birth and started smoking at age 13 but didn't really become a full on smoker until age 17.  I smoked until age 34.
