bad nostril smell

I had cancer of the nose a year or so ago and have had a itchy nose every ssince  they cut a thumb size chunk out and did plastic surgery so it doesnt look horrible just noticable.  but now I have been smelling this like a slight burning smell from wire or electronic.  I thought it was coming from the house but no one else smells it , I went to the store and smelled it there so it is me and not the house.  Does this have anything to do with post cancer, I went back and he said so far no sighn of the cancer back but years ago I had about 4 of my signusus cut out from a skull fracture so my nose doesnt get plugged up but it does run occationally a little  is there a connection?
