body takes involuntary deep breath

I posted a question a few days ago thinking it was in the Doctor to patient forum but it showed up in the patient to patient forum. If it again shows up in the patient to patient forum  could someone let me know how to get it in the Doctor to patient forum. I'm posting under the Doctor forum.
My husband is 58yrs.-6ft.-285lbs. He is about 50lbs overweight and has a lot of muscle because he always lifts weights. He never smoked....takes only aleve and lamicil. He has been having his body taking an involuntary deep breath on its own a couple times a day. He doesnt think he needs to see a Dr. (not a fan of Drs.) but I'm worried about him. He says it doesn't happen at night but I have heard him take a deep breath in the middle of his sleep. He says he is fine with no other symptoms. Do you have any clue as to what could be causing this?

This is similar to yawning.  It is probably of no serious consequence to your husband’s health.

Were you ever able to find out what this was?  I have a similar problem however my involuntary breath happens about 4-5 times every hour.

Have had this problem for 4 months now ever since I had a horrible cold and bronchitis.
