bronchiectatsis and right side pain

by grannyl, Aug 30, 2005 12:00AM
For about 12 years I have been diagnosed with brochiectasis.  About 95 percnet of the time I experience pain on the right side beginning from about the end of the rib cage up about several inches.  The pain actually feels like someone is inside my ribs pushing to get out.  The bones of the rib cage are sometimes sensitive to touch.  Could this be caused by damage to the lungs from the bronchiectasis.

Unfortunately, your pain could be caused by damage from the bronchiectasis.  Sometimes bronchiectasis effects only 1 area of the lung.  Then it can be completely removed surgically.  Your pain could also be caused by infection, including tuberculosis (TB).  Treatment of the infection can result in relief of cough and pain.
