bronchitis

I have had an upper respiratory infection that was diagnosed as bronchitis. I had a fever of 100.1 and coughed up green phlegm. I was put on omnicef. Today is the fourth day on the antibiotics. Clearly, I feel better. I am tired, though, and am still coughing up green phlegm. I am concerned that the phlegm is still colored. I have an IgA deficiency, so I have had a lot of these infections. Usually, the phlegm starts to change to white and then clear quickly. I am feeling better, though, so I am confused....Bottom line - Am I getting better or should I contact the doctor?

The fact that you are feeling better and hopefully the fever is gone is a good sign.  I would think from this description that you are responding to the antibiotics.

How many days of antibiotics were you given?  If the mucous remains discolored and you're down to your last two days of antibiotics, I'd give the doc a call & ask his/her advice.  S/he may wish to extend the course or try switching you to a new antibiotic to clear things up.  Good luck!
