As a person who has been fighting lung infections for over 4 years now, that sounds like a very bad lung infection.  Did  any sputum start days before as yellow then to brown?  If so, that is another sign of lung infections.  There are a lot of things, especially this time of year, that can cause a infection. I would advise seeing your family doctor and if you can take a sample of the sputum to him.  But, should not let go very long, believe me, lung infections are not something to mess around and hope to clear up.  Take this serious, please.
