can pneumonia be mistaken for panic attacks.My 80 year old mother went to her docter afew months ago with chest pains that she had had for a couple of weeks and he gave her medicine for panic attacks a couple of days later she was rushed to hospital and they found out she had pneumonia later she suffered severel heart attacks and strokes and then died could this have been avoided if she had been diagnoised properly.
