can't get breath

When I am laying down on my back and start laughing, I completely lose my breath. There is no air going in or out. I have to jump up and it takes a few seconds for the air to start moving again. It's very scary!  It usually ends with a huge coughing fit and my lungs hurt into the next day... what could cause this and should I be seeing a doctor for it?

I'm sorry.. no I have not been sick and this has been happening for quite a while. It only happens if I'm lying on my back and start laughing.

You didn't mention if you have been sick at all, or if this is something new or been going on for a long time.  I have had tech bronchitis and now have coughin fit and can not breathe, i went to doctor who gave me a steriod pkg and an enhale when the eposide hapens.  Is it just when laying down? I know it is scary, it has been happening everday for a week now and i figured i would be found dead.  I try to calm myself down and breathe through my nose, it takes time because you get into such a panic i know really!!!!!  if i were you i would be at the doctor about it
