cause of lower-lobe (right) back pain associated

I'm under the care of a board certified pulmonologist after about 6 weeks of deep, productive coughing accompanied by lower right back pain where the doc says he hears "clicking." Xrays show a shadow (arc) he says may be pleura inflammation and prescribed cortisone for 1 week and followed by another xray for comparison.  no change.  CAT w/contrast followed, which he has yet to see.  (all this following an agressive antibiotic therapy by g.p. w/ no results.) no fever, ever; no particular weakness, but persistant productive coughing and back pain, like being bruuised w/ a baseball bat.
Can dental work cause pulmonary infection or even embolism?
thanks.

The results of the CT scan should be helpful in identifying the cause of your cough and chest pain.  Since you have never had a fever, the likelihood of an infection is decreased.  If there is a dental infection initially, it is possible for dental work to lead to a pulmonary infection.
