causes of fluid filling lungs repeatedly

by ladytexan, Feb 26, 2005 12:00AM
After seemingly coming down with the respiratory "crud" which is common this winter, my husband was hospitalized with pneumonia.  It was necessary to drain the lung and remove
'a honeycomb'.  A week later the lung seems to be filling again.
What could be the causes of the lung repeatedly filling with fluid?

Unfortunately, I need more information in order to give you an answer.  What is a "honeycomb"?  Was the lung or the pleural space drained? Was there a pleural effusion?  The "lung filling again" could be recurrent infection or a benign pleural effusion.  The best advice I can give is that you sit down with your husband's doctor and ask for details.
