I have had clearing of throat, voice hoarseness, unable to speak in places with moderate to lound noise in background , difficulty breathing at times. I have seen bunch of ENT's, GI, pulmonary functions, CT Scan, allegry test (allergic to dust mites who is not)..and speech therapist. None of them have been helpful. I have taken all the allergy medication, GERD, acid reflux medication, nasal spray etc..nothing has proved helpful. In visiting the speech therapist they indicated that i might be using a wrong speaking method and not using the breath support. They have put me in speech therapy exercises and i have been doing it sometime. I have completly changed the way i speak. I used to use deep voice now i have started using diapharm support and being more attentive in terms of using breath while speaking as opposed to using throat (which was tiring the throat and ending up cleaning my throat). It has gotten slightly better but still there are problems..
I was reading a bunch of articles and saw one on a girl diagnosed with PANDAS. Look that one up...
Has this now stopped as my 7 year old boy has had this for 10 days now. He had chicken pox and a cold before Christmas and has now developed this single repeating cough with constant throat cleraing in between. This goes on all day but doesn't affect him when he is asleep. I have been reading up for days and the 2 things that keep coming up are asthma and transent tic syndrome. Apparently 25% of children will develop a tic during their school years. Anything from a cough to clicking fingers to blinking etc. A transient tic is said to last more than 4 weeks but less than a year. The only other thing that may cause this is if you have had a new carpet fitted recently (or in May last year). We had one fitted on 22nd Dec and the cough started a couple of days later. Apparently the chemicals in the carpet and the adhesive used can cause children to cough.
I have the chronic throat clearing problem for more than 15 years. seen many doctors, no answers.
