My husband has leaking heart valves and his doctor prescribe sotalol he gets very tired and coughs quite a lot. I am very concerned because he has very little appetite hence he has lost weight. Has anyone on sotalol experienced this.
i started sotalol on 4 sept. 08 since i have been taking, it i feel sick, had bronchitis and now go an infection in my left lung, i said to my cardiologist about my fears and i wanted to go back on attenalol but he suggested reducing the sotalol to 80mg a day rather than 160mg per day, but i beleive all my symptoms have been caused by sotalol because i never had chest problems still i started taking them. i am not going to listen to him, i am going on what my body is telling me, so from tommorrow no more sotalol and i am restarting on attenalol, by the way sotalol can give you a cough.
regards
carroll
Hi, cough is not characterstically associated with sotalol but difficulty in breathing is seen in patients on sotalol. Verapamil is good choice as no respiratory side effects are seen with this drug.
Relax, sotalol is quite safe drug and you won't have long term side effects.
