Here are some examples of class II medical devices for use in the home to ease respiratory problems:
· bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP) is used as a common treatment for sleep apnea by delivering air pressure at 2 levels into the lungs to keep the airways open during sleep;
· continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is used as a common treatment for sleep apnea by delivering continuous air pressure into the lungs to keep the airways open during sleep;
· oxygen concentrator is used to provide oxygen from room air to keep the oxygen blood level adequate;
· therapy vest is used to help clear mucus from the lungs; and
· ventilator is used either to take over breathing or help with breathing.
