copd and bloody sputum

Is coughing up bloody sputum normal with copd?

How much blood are we talking about? IF it is frank blood, then no...you shouldn't be coughing it up. If you have certain types of infections that may cause bloody sputum. A condition called bronchiectasis would make one at a higher risk for coughing up blood. Only your doctor can determine the cause of coughing up blood....I would see him or her for an examination complete with tests if necessary.
