cough and reflux disease

Can a chronic cough be related to reflux disease?

by National Jewish Health, Sep 26, 2008 04:41PM
Yes, reflux is 1 of the top 3 causes of cough.  Reflux is also a factor in the development of or worsening of asthma so that the cough may then be on the basis of both reflux and asthma.  Treatment of reflux can often cure or at least diminish cough, but be aware that even when the anti-reflux treatment is effective, it may take a couple of months to experience the benefit.
