cough

hey, I'm a 22 yr old female and i've had the exact same thing. I have had a cough since 17 jan and its now 4 june, so nearly 5 months. I don't have a sore throat but do have a rasping, rattling feeling in my chest. It doesn't hurt although it is very annoying. Especially when i cough and can't stop. Like you most times when i cough, i bring up either clear or white fluid. I have also brought up stringy stuff from my chest that looks like lung tissue, when coughed into a tissue it makes a small T shape. I haven't been to the doctor about it yet, as i have a fear of taking up a doctors time when someone with something more serious could be being seen to. I also have a fear of them turning round and saying there's nothing wrong with me and i've wasted their time. The rasping/ rattling is always in the left side of my lung, i have also found a lump in my left breast and am worried wbout that too. Like i said though, because i don't like wasting doctors time i let everything build up til i have no choice and have to go. Sorry for the whinge but i had to get this off my chest - haha boom boom!

Hi, did you find out what was wrong? I have had the same thing, the rattling in the chest followed by cough and coughing up stuff. I have really bad riht rib pain as well, nightmare as I have been to the doctors over four times and once was in so much pain I went to A and E. I'm actually up now because of the rib. The cough otherwise is annoying but doesnt hurt.

Ok weird you are the first person that has like laid out your symptoms and they are just like mine.  I also find that when I wake up coughing at night, I am in a sheet dreanching night sweat.  I dont have health insurance so I cannot really afford to go to the doctor for this.  Mine has been going on slightly longer for about 7 months
