cronic cough

My son is 6 years old and has respiratory problems, he gets a cough every time it gets cold out side and we have been giving him breathing treatments all of his life, that helps about half of the time. This winter has been the worst winter. He has had a cough all winter long with the exeption of a few good days. We have takin him to the doctor and have had him tested for allirgies, and all the docors sugest is the breathing treatments. It seems like every time we take him to the doctor his cough calms down and the doctor dosn't see what we do. when he was born the nurse that suctioned his lungs out did not do a good job and the doctor said that he would has respirtory problems all his life. We just want to know what we could do to help him.

It is hard to tell if your son has asthma or not from the description you have presented.  It is a good idea to ask your physician to have a lung function test for your son or to see a specialist who can perform this easy test.  This can give you a lot more information about the cause of the problem and also other types of therapies that might be of more benefit.
