deep breath

deep breath

Every so often I have to take a deep breath, but am not able to.  It started last week and continues. It has started to hurt my ribs and I get a headache trying to get this deep breath.  I have asthma and have been taking ADVAIR which has been working great.  At first I thought it was asthma, but nothing I take for asthma even gives me temporary relief from taking this deep breath.  Is this in my just all in my head or is there something I can do.

This could be a sign that your asthma is not well controlled.  However this may have nothing to do with your asthma.  You will need to have a thorough exam by a doctor and possibly pulmonary function testing to find the problem.  Only then can the most helpful treatment be started.

I have been struggling for close to three weeks with a number of issues, but all reflect on my laboured breathing. As an asthmatic I know that I am susceptible to difficulties when I get any viruses. I have been an patient in the hospital for four days in the past two and a half weeks, diagnosed with pneumonia and currently had my third dose of Levaquin at 500mg daily (third day of 10). I am still experiencing difficulty breathing, and particularly at night. My vitals are very good with my blood oxygen at 100%, but still I labour. The emergency doctors have concluded that the shortness of breath is not related to my asthma.

Could there be anything else that the doctors are missing? Does this antibiotic need more time to take affect?

Any comments or feedback would be great, thanks Loridale
