deviated septum

by spare change?, Mar 13, 2007 12:00AM
I've been endlessly looking for answers to my (frontal) headache situation with various neurologist, with no luck.   Finally an Ent diagnosed me with severely deviated septum and he gladly offers me a turbinectomy to fix...besides my nose feels like the airflow is at maybe 30% what it should be on both sides.   Question--can my severe deviated septum be causing my frontal headache,   and or,  feeling my nose is blocked on BOTH sides?  Should getting the minor surgery at least open my nose up so I can smell good again?  Is that kind of surgery usually successful?     Funny thing is I never get sinusitis except once in a blue moon...yet my symptoms of headache and blocked nose are constant

So what do you think

Thank you

These are questions best answered by an ENT specialist who has reviewed your films.  The answers, in a global way, are that a deviated septum can cause headaches and restricted airflow. Whether this is the case with your particular problem needs to be address by someone familiar with you specifically. If you have concerns, it is not unreasonable to get a second opinion.
