difficulty lying down

by sag784, Mar 30, 2008 07:10AM
I read the post by Dr. Benjamin W. Van Voorhees on breathing difficulty while lying down. I have the same symptoms and also have gas and feel pressure in my abdomen when I lie down. The problem goes away sitting down or standing up. I took anti-gas medication but the symptoms still persist at night. I have had surgery for a deviated septum and my ENT told me that one nostril has restricted access which can be surgically corrected. The surgical procedure he informed me is no longer done and he explained that it took out the passage which help condition the air I breathe. I use Breathe Right strip and it helps.

I have never had the problem being able to lie down and sleep until now. A sleep study done two year ago was OK other than I snored very heavily and was able to lie down and sleep through the night during the study.

I am looking for guidance on what kind of specialty I should consult. My GP is new in town and near retirement. He moved down to be near the grandchildren and was not very helpful.
