elevated left hemidiaphragm

My doctor referred me to a pulmonary specialist for this condition that was found on a chest Xray followed by a CT scan. The referral stated the reason for the referral was routine and the specialist set the appointment for 2 months out. All of the reasons I have found for this condition seem serious, should I be waiting 2 months to see a specialist for this condition?

I had diapphram surgery 6 weeks ago to a paralyzed diaphram. I believe this is why your xray show's the elevation ,that's how mine was discovered. I didn't have a lot of signs ,shortness of breath , lite headness. trouble breathing in general ,and i did ok on the complex tests i was put thru originally . But then about 6 months ago which would be about two years since my first tests i did very poorly on the pulmunary tests just two and very easy calles spirometer I think . I then was told by my pulmonologist at Lahey clinic thta it was time for a surgical consult ,which resukted in surgery . The surgery was not bad in the scope of things I have had a multitude of surgerys due to crohns , fusion , TURP , and lungs and gall bladder the old way . so I would get the tests done and then proceed from there , but please don't worry if surgery is the answer I think you'll do ok.???

What is interesting about unilateral involvement of the diaphragm (explains the elevated diaphragm on the left) is that it is usually picked up incidentally by xray. Many don't have any symptoms but some do. Are you having problems with your breathing? If you are, then yes, you should be seeing someone sooner to help with that. I am not a doctor, just someone who has been through all of this (I have bilateral involvement) and am a RN. I would ask your doctor what he thinks...like I said, if you are having problems then you should push to see a specialist sooner.
I wish I could be more helpful...Sunny
