why do I HAVE PAIN DOWN MY LEFT BACK SIDE?

My mother just passed away from emphysema after 14 years. The last 6 months were the hardest. She passed on april 25,2008.

My mother had alot of aches and pains and was told by her physician that when you are not getting the oxygen needed for your body that you will experience alot of pain.
