fluid on lungs

by tugboat57, Aug 24, 2004 12:00AM
I've been having a sharp pain under my right shoulder blade. I cough up fluid from my lungs and this pain eases.  What could be causing this fluid build up in my lungs?  The fluid I cough up is clear.

There are many diseases that might cause what you describe.  You need to be seen by a doctor.  Testing would begin with a chest x-ray.  If this is normal, then you need to have a lung scan.  Pain under the shoulder blade can be caused by gall bladder disease.  However this doesn’t usually happen along with a cough where fluid comes up from the lungs.

Hi,
You cough up some fluid, it does not mean it come from lung. May be some fluid from upper respiratory tract.
